Shimla, Jan 8: A tragic case of a minor rape victim has emerged in Rampur, where the victim passed away during treatment at IGMC Shimla after delivering a newborn.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint at Rampur Police Station, stating that his minor daughter was found to be seven months pregnant after undergoing an ultrasound at Khaneri Hospital. Despite the family’s efforts to inquire about the perpetrator, the victim did not disclose any details.
On January 7, the victim delivered the baby but was referred to IGMC Shimla due to her deteriorating health. Unfortunately, she succumbed during treatment.
The police have registered a case under the POCSO Act against an unidentified individual and are investigating the matter. DSP Rampur Naresh Sharma confirmed the incident and assured that the police are conducting a thorough investigation to bring the culprit to justice.
