Milk Cess Burden on Public : Vivek Sharma
1 min readSolan, Jan 07: BJP spokesperson Vivek Sharma accused the Himachal Pradesh government of burdening the public with a “milk cess” of 2 to 10 paise per unit on electricity, while appealing to citizens to forgo subsidies. Drawing a parallel with former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri’s appeal during the 1964 drought, Sharma stated that the government is prioritizing a ₹19 crore office for the CM over public welfare.
He alleged that while the government claims a lack of budgetary provisions, it has stalled critical projects worth crores:
– ₹3.72 crore for 13 police projects,
– ₹65.90 crore for 182 health schemes,
– ₹190 crore for 619 public works schemes.
Additionally, Sharma highlighted delays in over 150 government schemes and unpaid contractor dues of ₹820 crore. He pointed out that rising costs of construction materials and labor, along with a 57% decline in migrant labor, have further stalled infrastructure development in the state.
In contrast, he praised central government initiatives like PM Awas Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission for transforming rural areas, urging a shift from “system change” to “power change” in Himachal Pradesh.
