Mandi Mosque Ordered to Restore Illegal Structure in 30 Days
1 min readMandi, Sept. 13 : In a key decision regarding the Mandi Jail Road Mosque case, the Municipal Commissioner Court of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, announced its final ruling on Friday. Municipal Commissioner H.H. Rana ordered that the illegal structure of the mosque must be restored to its original form within 30 days. Exercising powers under the HPTCP Act 31 (1), the court instructed the violators to bring the structure back to its pre-construction state, following a lack of compliance with earlier orders.
The Muslim Welfare Community was given ample time, from October 2023 to October 2024, to rectify the situation but failed to make any progress. During the hearing, representatives of the community assured the court of their cooperation and commitment to restoring the site to its original condition.
The issue surfaced in October 2023, when Dhanshyam, a local resident, filed a complaint about illegal construction at the mosque. Despite inspections, warnings, and submission of a revised plan, the construction continued without approval. After repeated violations, the municipal corporation issued the final order to halt the unauthorized development and restore the building as per regulations.
