Mandatory Biometric Update for Aadhaar Urged: DC Shimla

Shimla, 09 June 2025: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired the District Aadhaar Monitoring Committee review meeting, stressing the need for mandatory biometric updates to avoid deactivation and ensure access to government schemes and exams. Special campaigns will be launched in schools to update children’s Aadhaar. Citizens aged 5–7 and 15–17 can update biometrics for free, while other updates involve nominal charges. Efforts are also underway to repair non-functional Aadhaar kits to boost enrolments.
