Locals Take Action Against Drug Peddlers in Kullu

Kullu, March 5, 2025 – In a strong stand against drug abuse, locals in Kullu’s Raison area caught and punished drug peddlers and addicts, even forcing three youths into a humiliating position as a lesson. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Himachal Pradesh has been witnessing a rise in chitta (heroin) trafficking, especially in Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, Kangra, and Solan. Frustrated by the growing menace, locals have started taking matters into their own hands.

In the video, the captured youths reveal their backgrounds. One is from Balichowki, Mandi, admitting to occasional drug use. Another, from Keylong, Lahaul-Spiti, denies using drugs, while a third, from Naggar, claims he only consumes cannabis.

One of the accused even named a Nepali national in Patlikuhal as a key drug supplier. Another revealed that his father is a forest range officer. The incident has sparked discussions on community action against drug abuse in the state.
