Mandi, May 17:
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has strongly criticized the Sukhu-led government, alleging complete collapse of law and order in Himachal Pradesh. Speaking from his home constituency, Thunag, Thakur said the “Devbhoomi” is becoming a hub for criminals from outside the state due to the government’s inaction and police inefficiency.
Thakur expressed grave concern over rising criminal incidents even in interior areas, where organized gangs conduct recces and lootings at gunpoint. “Police have failed to control the situation, and the Chief Minister is more focused on weekly visits to Delhi High Command than public safety,” he remarked.
He cited frequent crimes in Una, Bilaspur, Baddi-Nalagarh, Sirmaur, and now Kullu-Manali, Mandi-Sundernagar, and Kangra. He emphasized the need for strict tenant verification, police vigilance, and registration of outsiders.
Thakur also warned about suspicious individuals loitering around tourist spots, creating fear among locals. “Unchecked criminal elements threaten the peaceful culture of our state,” he said, urging urgent action.
