JUIT Students Gain Insights into Automotive and Semiconductor Industries during Industrial Visit

Solan, April, 2024: The Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Humanities & Social Science (HSS) departments of JUIT Waknaghat organized a transformative industrial visit for UG/PG/PhD students, accompanied by faculty members, to TVS Motors in Nalagarh and Signum Electro Pvt. Ltd. in Baddi, both situated in the picturesque district of Solan, H.P.

Led by the esteemed Prof. Rajiv Kumar and Dr. Amit Srivastava from the respective departments, along with Dr. Pardeep Garg, the visit provided 22 students from ECE and 4 from HSS with invaluable exposure to the inner workings of two prominent companies in the automotive and semiconductor sectors. Accompanying the students were dedicated faculty members including Dr. Emjee Puthooran, Dr. Salman Raju Talluri, Mr. Munish Sood, and Ms. Triambca Gautam, along with the assistance of Mr. Dhirendra Kumar Singh and Mr. Kamlesh Shrivastava from the ECE lab staff.

The journey commenced at the renowned TVS Motors plant in Nalagarh, where students were enlightened with a comprehensive demonstration of the company’s operations, followed by an insightful tour of the entire manufacturing facility. Engaging discussions between students, faculty, and plant officials explored internship and placement opportunities, providing a holistic understanding of automation and business dynamics in the automotive industry. The hospitality extended by TVS Motors, including a sumptuous lunch, added warmth to the experience.

Continuing their exploration, the JUIT team ventured to Signum Electro Pvt. Ltd. in Baddi, renowned for its world-class PCB manufacturing. From raw material handling to final quality assurance, students were exposed to the intricate processes involved in producing high-quality PCBs for esteemed clients such as the automobile industry and Philips. The visit not only broadened their understanding of semiconductor manufacturing but also highlighted the company’s global footprint and commitment to excellence.

Expressing gratitude to both TVS Motors and Signum Electro Pvt. Ltd., the JUIT team returned enriched with firsthand insights and practical knowledge, ready to apply their learnings in their academic and professional pursuits.
