JUIT Marks World Environment Day with ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Plantation Drive

Waknaghat, June 11: Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability, Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with a tree plantation drive under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”.

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and staff, with around 60 participants planting nearly 30 saplings across the university campus. The campaign aimed to promote environmental conservation while encouraging individuals to dedicate a tree to their mothers as a symbol of gratitude, care and nurturing.

The plantation drive was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. R.K. Sharma, Registrar Brig. (Retd.) R.K. Sharma, Dean (Accreditation ) Prof. Sunil Kumar Khah, Dean (Student Welfare) Rakesh Kumar Bajaj, Associate Dean Prof. Tirth Raj Singh, along with faculty members and staff.

Organised by Prof. Poonam Sharma and Dr. Ashok Kumar Nadda, the event highlighted the importance of collective action in protecting the environment and increasing green cover. Participants pledged to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future through responsible environmental practices.
