Jairam Thakur Slams Govt for Blocking CBI Probe in Vimal Negi Case

Shimla, May 30: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur accused the state government of deliberately stalling the CBI investigation into the death of Vimal Negi. He claimed that the government is rattled by the High Court’s order and fears exposure of corruption. Thakur alleged that under CM Sukvinder Singh Sukhu’s directive, the Shimla SP filed a review petition to block the CBI probe, with consent from the Advocate General—implying the government’s involvement.
He questioned the CM’s inability to act against the SP and called it a sign of administrative paralysis. Thakur said while the CM publicly welcomed the CBI probe, in reality, his government is doing everything to stop it. He cited contradictory legal filings and attempts to tamper with evidence, such as formatting a crucial pen drive, as signs of a deeper cover-up. He urged the CM to cooperate with the CBI instead of obstructing justice.
