Jairam Thakur Meets PM Modi, Discusses Himachal’s Key Issues and Development Priorities
New Delhi, August 21, 2026: Himachal Pradesh Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday and held detailed discussions on the state’s current situation, development priorities and other issues concerning Himachal Pradesh.
Thakur apprised the Prime Minister of various challenges facing the state and sought his guidance on matters related to infrastructure, health, education, roads, railways and other development sectors. He said the Centre, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, had continued to support Himachal Pradesh and advance several major projects and welfare initiatives in the state.
Describing Himachal as a geographically distinct state with unique development challenges, Thakur stressed the importance of close coordination between the Centre and the state. He said the BJP would continue to raise issues concerning Himachal’s interests before the Central Government and seek appropriate support for the state’s development.
Thakur also met former BJP national president and Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda during his Delhi visit. He enquired about Nadda’s well-being and discussed various matters related to Himachal Pradesh and the party organisation.
Thakur said Nadda’s experience and contribution to Himachal’s development and the strengthening of the BJP organisation remained a source of guidance and inspiration.
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Central leadership for their continued support to Himachal Pradesh and said the BJP would remain committed to raising issues concerning the state and working for its development and public welfare.
