Shimla, June 12: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Friday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12-year tenure as a transformative period that turned long-pending national aspirations into reality and ushered in a new era of development, governance and self-reliance.

Addressing the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan” held at Peterhoff, Shimla, to mark 12 years of the NDA government at the Centre, Thakur said the country had received strong and decisive leadership under Prime Minister Modi, enabling several historic and previously unimaginable milestones to be achieved.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda attended the event as the chief guest and highlighted the Centre’s achievements in governance, infrastructure development, digital empowerment, economic growth and welfare initiatives over the past 12 years.

Jairam Thakur said landmark decisions such as the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the abolition of triple talaq reflected the government’s commitment to fulfilling long-standing national goals. He also credited the Modi government with strengthening India’s economy, expanding welfare programmes and enhancing the country’s global standing.

The Leader of Opposition praised BJP National President-turned-Union Minister J.P. Nadda for his contribution to both the party organisation and Himachal Pradesh’s development, stating that the state had consistently benefited from strong support from the Centre.

He also congratulated BJP workers and leaders for the party’s recent performance in local body and Panchayati Raj elections, describing it as a reflection of public confidence in the party’s vision and leadership.
