Jairam Thakur Accuses Government of Shielding Mining Mafia

Shimla, 16 Feb 2025: Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has alleged that illegal mining is rampant across Himachal Pradesh while the state government remains a mute spectator. He claimed that mafia operations are thriving even near SP offices, and the police are hesitant to take action.

Thakur accused the government of breaking the morale of the police, leading to unchecked illegal mining. He cited a recent case where action against mining mafia in Baddi resulted in an officer being forcibly sent on leave. He warned that if this continues, the mafia may soon have control over administrative offices.

Calling the situation shameful, Thakur demanded immediate action against those involved in illegal mining and officials ignoring public complaints.
