Mandi, April 27: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a sharp attack on the state government, alleging a complete breakdown of law and order in Himachal Pradesh. Speaking to the media in Mandi, he claimed that rising crime rates have shattered past records, creating fear among citizens and indicating that criminals no longer fear the law. He directly targeted Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stating that as the Home portfolio holder, it was his responsibility to act decisively to control crime.

Thakur warned that if the situation persists, Himachal’s image as a peaceful state could be severely affected, impacting tourism and investment. He called for an immediate high-level review and stronger police presence across the state. He also expressed condolences over recent incidents and urged strict preventive measures.

Earlier, he paid tribute to former Union Minister Pandit Sukhram on his death anniversary, remembering him as the pioneer of the communication revolution in Himachal.
