“Shimla, April 27: In a recent development, Baghavani and Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi have leveled allegations against the BJP, claiming that the party is now resorting to lies to avoid the maternal curse, asserting that they did not oppose the Women’s Dignity Fund. He alleged that former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, along with other leaders, pressured election officials to halt the process in writing. According to Negi, the BJP has a history of falsehoods.

Negi, in a press conference today, highlighted that the state government had initiated a plan to provide Rs 1500 to women, which was first rolled out in February 2024 by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukkhu. He stated that the BJP attempted to obstruct the process of eligible women in Himachal Pradesh from filling out forms. However, upon clarification to the Election Commission by the state government, permission was granted to continue with the procedure, enabling all eligible women in the state to submit their forms to the Welfare Officer.

Negi accused the BJP of neglecting crucial issues and misleading the public with their false promises. He emphasized that the Congress government never imposed unauthorized taxes on the people. Negi pointed out the abolition of inheritance tax in 1985 due to its adverse effects on income and expenditure. He also highlighted the scrapping of wealth tax and property tax by the BJP-led central government in 2016, benefiting wealthy individuals. Negi expressed concern about the BJP’s attempts to mislead the public in the name of taxes.

Negi criticized the BJP for lowering the political discourse in the state. He expressed worry about the tarnishing of Himachal Pradesh’s clean politics by BJP leaders, warning that they would pay the price for it in the upcoming elections. Negi expressed confidence in the Congress party’s prospects in all four Lok Sabha and six Vidhan Sabha by-elections in the state, asserting that the Congress government is stable and strong, and will only grow stronger after June 4th.
