In district Kangra, 29246 voters will vote by postal ballot: Dr. Nipun Jindal
3 min readDharamshala, Nov 1 – All arrangements are being made by the District Election Office to ensure the voting rights of every voter in the great festival of democracy. In this episode, District Election Officer Dr. Nipun Jindal instructed the polling teams to make complete arrangements for the voters who cast their votes through postal ballot papers. He informed that a total of 29246 voters will vote through the postal ballot in district Kangra. Out of these 5606 senior voters above the age of 80 years, voters with more than 40 percent disability are 1413, voters of essential services 459 and service voters (serving in the Indian Army) 21768.
Dr. Nipun Jindal informed that among the voters who have opted to vote from home in the district are senior citizens above 80 years of age and voters with more than 40 percent disability. Whose total number is 7019. in which the maximum number of voters is 837 from the Jwalamukhi assembly constituency and the lowest is 64 from Nagrota Bagwan. Similarly, 146 from Nurpur, 216 from Indora, 493 from Fatehpur, 511 from Jawali, 333 from Dehra, 497 from Jaswan Paragpur, 334 from Jaisinghpur, 405 from Sullah, 603 from Kangra, 522 from Shahpur, 533 from Dharamsala, 805 from Palampur And 720 people from Baijnath assembly constituency have opted to vote from home.
To review the arrangements made for the voters who voted through the postal ballot in the district, District Election Officer Dr. Nipun Jindal took stock of the preparations by holding a meeting with the polling officers via video conference late last night. He informed that 122 mobile voting teams have been formed in the district for the voters who have opted to vote from home. Two polling officers, a micro observer, a videographer and security personnel will be present in each team.
He said that these teams have been instructed to share the list and schedule of those who voted from home in the respective assembly constituency with all the contesting candidates. He said that these teams would have postal ballot papers, forms 13(a), 13(b), 13(c), a voting compartment and ballot boxes.
District Election Officer Dr. Nipun Jindal informed that there are three categories of voters for postal ballot papers. In which the first category is those who vote from home. He said that the mobile polling team would inform the voters before going to their homes. If a voter is not at home the first time, his/her home will be re-visited. If he is not found at home twice, then those voters will not be able to cast their vote.
At the same time, postal polling stations will be set up for the employees of essential services, which will be kept in all the assembly constituencies for three consecutive days. He said that the employees of essential services can exercise their franchise by visiting the postal polling stations established in their area of work. He directed the officers to motivate the employees of essential services to vote by informing them about the postal polling station.
Service voters are the third class to vote through postal ballot. He said that the Votes serving in the Indian Army have been sent their postal ballot papers online on October 30, which they can fill and send to the concerned Returning Officer by 7:59 am on December 08.
