HRTC pensioners receives Rs. 239.45 crore financial benefits over last three years

A spokesperson of the Transport department disclosed here today that the Himachal Pradesh government was committed to the welfare of its employees and has taken several initiatives to benefit them. He stated that pensioners of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) have been provided financial benefits amounting to Rs. 239.45 crore while employees of the Corporation received benefits of Rs. 74.39 crore during the period from 1 January, 2023 to 30 March, 2026.
The spokesperson said that up to 31 July 2025, approximately Rs. 35 crore were released to 350 pensioners, Rs. 174.45 crore to 805 pensioners towards death-cum-retirement gratuity and leave encashment while Rs. 2.75 crore were released for reimbursement of medical bills. Besides, a sum of Rs. 24 crore was paid towards revised pension benefits to 700 pensioners above the age of 75 years, Rs. 2.50 crore as pension allowance to 3,800 pensioners and Rs. 75 lakh to 3,500 pensioners under pay matrix of 50 percent and 30 percent of revised pension.
He said that during the same period, HRTC employees were provided financial benefits Rs. 74.39 crore. Out of this, Rs. 27.74 crore were released towards overtime and night-duty allowances; Rs. 5.50 crore for payment of 45 percent Dearness Allowance and the related arrears at par with state government employees, Rs. 1.77 crore towards reimbursement of medical claims and Rs. 39.38 crore towards payment of salaries and arrears related to other benefits.
The spokesperson further informed that 2,198 employees were regularized from contractual service during the above period. A total of 691 appointments were made between 2023-25. These include 327 conductors recruited through the Staff Selection Commission, while others were appointed through the Ex-Servicemen Cell and 145 workers were converted from piece-meal employment status.
