HRTC Charges ₹264 for Carrying Heater, Sparks Controversy in Himachal
Shimla, Dec 11: Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has come under fire after charging a ₹264 fare for carrying a 1.5 kg heater on a bus. The incident occurred on December 4, when Mohan Lal, a student from Central University in Dharamshala, was traveling from Shimla. Despite the policy allowing 30 kg luggage for free, HRTC charged the fare, citing rules for electronic items.
Earlier, incidents of charging for pressure cookers and wedding albums had also drawn criticism. Former CM Jairam Thakur had raised concerns over such practices.
