HPV Vaccination Session Held at Lower Basal to Prevent Cervical Cancer

Health Department Conducts Special Immunisation Drive for Eligible Adolescent Girls

Una, August 20, 2026: The Health Department organised a special HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination session at Government High School, Lower Basal, as part of the ongoing campaign aimed at preventing cervical cancer.

District Immunisation Officer Dr. Richa Kalia said the HPV vaccination campaign is being conducted across Una district until August 31, 2026. Under the ‘Mission 4500’, the district has set a target of vaccinating eligible girls in the 14–15 years age group.

Special vaccination sessions are being organised at various government and private educational institutions across the district to ensure maximum coverage among eligible beneficiaries.

At the Lower Basal school session, 10 eligible girls had been identified for vaccination, of whom 8 received the HPV vaccine.

The vaccination session was attended by the school principal, teachers and parents of the students. The Health Department has urged eligible beneficiaries and their families to make use of the ongoing vaccination campaign.
