1 min read

Shimla, August 7, 2025:
Teaching and non-teaching staff of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) staged a strong protest against the university administration and the state government today, demanding immediate disbursal of their pending salaries. Despite being the 7th of the month, employees have not received their regular salaries, a situation that has been persisting for several months now.

HPU Teachers and Employees Welfare Association (HPUTWA) President, Prof. Nitin Vyas, stated that never in the 55-year history of the university has such a prolonged delay in salary occurred. Calling it a result of administrative negligence, he warned the authorities that if salaries are not released within the next 48 hours, the staff will be compelled to shut down the university and launch a massive agitation.

Prof. Vyas further said that future actions may include:

  • Boycott of administrative work
  • Suspension of examinations and evaluation
  • Submitting memorandums to the Governor and Education Minister

HPUTWA has appealed to the media to highlight the issue and hold the government accountable.
