HPNLU Hosts Expert Lecture on Commercial Court Act 2015 with Luthra & Luthra

Shimla, 14th November 2024: The Placement Assistance Cell of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, led by Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, hosted an enriching expert lecture titled “An Overview of the Commercial Court Act, 2015: History and Implementation.” Delivered by Mr. Rajeev Rambhatla, a Partner at Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, Hyderabad, the session targeted second, third, and fourth-year undergraduate law students, providing deep insights into India’s commercial litigation reforms.

Rambhatla’s lecture traced the historical context and the need for enacting the Commercial Court Act, 2015, which focuses on expedited dispute resolution and aims to make India a more attractive business destination. He elaborated on key provisions, including the establishment of specialized commercial courts, expedited case hearings, and the role of experienced judges in handling commercial matters. The speaker highlighted practical challenges and implementation hurdles, emphasizing the Act’s significance for enhancing business confidence and reducing litigation timelines in India.

Throughout the address, Rambhatla illustrated real-world implications for legal professionals, encouraging students to pursue careers in commercial litigation.
