HPNLU Celebrates 11th Foundation Day ‘अनुवर्धम्’ with Week-long Academic, Cultural and Co-Curricular Activities

Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, celebrated its 11th Foundation Day, “अनुवर्धम्” (Growing Step-by-Step Without Stopping) through a vibrant week of academic, cultural, literary, creative and co-curricular activities organised from 28 September to 3 October 2026. The celebrations, coordinated by the Student Enrichment Cell (SEC) in collaboration with various Centres, Cells, Committees and Clubs of the University, reflected the institution’s commitment to holistic education and student development.

The celebrations commenced on 28 September with a series of intellectually engaging and creative activities. The Centre for Human Rights and Disability Studies (CHRDS), in collaboration with SEC, organised a debate on “Should Celebrities Be Allowed to Have a Say on Public Political Opinion?” encouraging students to critically engage with contemporary issues of public discourse and democratic participation. The Youth Red Cross organised “Tambola – Play for a Cause,” which witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 200 students. The Centre for Tribal and Cultural Studies (CTCS) conducted “Chitrakatha,” a poster-making competition showcasing themes of tribal heritage, culture and storytelling, while “Nazar-e-Nazara,” a mobile photography competition, provided students with an opportunity to creatively interpret an on-the-spot theme.

On 29 September, the Centre for Law, Business and Economics organised the 2nd Intra-University Commercial Contract Drafting Competition, enabling students to strengthen their drafting and negotiation skills. The Legal Aid Clinic, in collaboration with the Centre for Environmental Studies, organised a Quiz Competition on Legal Studies and Environmental Law. SEC also hosted a range of creative events including Rangrez-e-Henna (Mehndi Competition), Mukh-Mudra (Face Painting Competition) and Kala-Kriti (Art and Craft Competition).

The celebrations continued on 30 September with a focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and public engagement. The Legal Innovation and Incubation Cell (LIIC) organised LEXCELERATE’26, a national-level Shark Tank-style legal innovation competition based on the theme “Access to Justice,” attracting participation from institutions across the country. Alongside it, VIDHI-VERSE showcased legal-tech startups, student innovations and emerging ventures working in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Online Dispute Resolution, legal education and legal research. SEC organised “Ham and Jam,” an impromptu speaking competition, while the Centre for Personal Law Studies presented the street play “Hikayat – Bhram Ka Mela.” The Centre for Advanced Intellectual Property Rights (CAIPR) organised IP AD-MAD, blending creativity with awareness of intellectual property rights. Students also enthusiastically participated in “Gumnaam,” a campus-wide recreational activity.

The final day of Foundation Week on 1 October featured activities centred on democracy, entrepreneurship, culture and teamwork. HPNLU hosted the Group Level Competition of the 18th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2025–26, under the aegis of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India, where participants demonstrated their understanding of parliamentary procedure, debate and deliberation under the theme “संवाद, संयम और संविधान” (Dialogue, Discipline and the Constitution). SEC organised “Yuva Bazaar,” a student-led entrepreneurial marketplace, while “Bhitti Chitra” highlighted artistic talent through wall paintings. Students also participated in “Khazana-e-Rahasya – The Treasure Hunt,” which tested problem-solving and teamwork skills. The Cultural Odyssey – Cultural Ramp Walk, organised by CAIPR in collaboration with CTCS, celebrated India’s cultural diversity through traditional, tribal and GI-tagged attire. The Foundation Week concluded with “Nritya Samar – The Dance Battle,” featuring a vibrant display of classical, folk and contemporary dance forms.
