HP Govt to Withdraw Electricity Subsidy for Specific Employee Groups from January 2025

The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to rationalize electricity subsidies for domestic consumers. Starting January 1, 2025, Group-A and Group-B employees/pensioners of the Himachal Pradesh government, Central government, boards, corporations, universities, PSUs, and military personnel residing in Himachal Pradesh will no longer be eligible for the subsidy.
The subsidy withdrawal will reflect in electricity bills issued from February 2025 onwards. The Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (HPERC) has been requested to issue formal directions to HPSEBL for implementing these changes. Consumers will also have the option to declare their status and subsidy preference online.
