Himachal’s Balbir Singh Bags Gold and Silver at 45th National Masters Athletics Championship

Himachal Pradesh’s Athletics Coach, Balbir Singh, achieved remarkable success at the 45th National Masters Athletics Championship, securing a gold medal in the 5000-meter race and a silver in the 1500-meter race. With his stellar performance, he has qualified for the Asian Masters Athletics Championship, which will be held in Indonesia.
The championship, which took place in Bangalore from March 4-9, 2025, saw over 2000 athletes from across the country competing. Balbir completed the 5000-meter race in 19 minutes 15 seconds and the 1500-meter race in 5 minutes 6 seconds, outpacing more than 50 athletes in the former and over 60 in the latter.
His victory was recognized by Olympians Steve Perkins and Juan Ordonez, who presented him with his medals and praised his performance. Balbir Singh had also won a bronze medal in the 1500-meter race at the All India Civil Services competition recently.
At 55, Balbir continues to exemplify dedication to fitness and athletics, believing that running is not just a physical challenge but also a mental one.
