Himachal Receives ₹9,375 Cr from GST in Year : Gopal Krishna Agarwal

 14% Annual Growth Assured

Shimla: BJP National Spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal addressed a press conference asserting that Himachal Pradesh will not face any loss under GST reforms. He highlighted that the state earns ₹9,375 crore annually through GST and IGST, with a guaranteed 14% growth in revenue every year.

Presenting data, he said Himachal received ₹5,339 crore from GST share and ₹2,845 crore from IGST in FY 2023-24, totaling ₹9,375 crore. Additionally, the state received ₹14,942 crore as Grant-in-Aid, making the total transfer from the Centre ₹24,317 crore — nearly 50% of the state’s ₹50,000 crore budget.

Agarwal refuted Congress’s claims of financial loss, stating that expenses on salaries (39%), pensions (23%), and interest (15%) are the state’s responsibility. He stressed that blaming the Centre is misleading, as the Union Government stands firmly with Himachal.

He added that Next Gen GST reforms, launched today by PM Modi, will simplify compliance, introduce two main tax slabs (5% and 18%), ensure quicker refunds, resolve input tax credit issues, and reduce costs for essential goods. These reforms aim to strengthen the economy, boost domestic demand, and create new investment opportunities.
