Himachal Pradesh Increases Vocational Teachers' Salaries by ₹2,000

Shimla, October 6, 2023 – The salaries of 2,148 vocational teachers employed in government schools in Himachal Pradesh have been increased by ₹2,000. The enhanced salaries will be applicable from April 1, 2023. The Education Department has issued directives to companies for the timely payment of increased salaries. Vocational teachers who have long been demanding salary increments and arrears from the government have received significant relief with the issuance of this notification.

This decision has benefited 2,148 vocational teachers currently employed in over 1,100 government schools in the state. Their salaries, which were previously ₹20,000, have now been increased to ₹22,000. Additionally, arrears for the period from April to September will also be provided to these teachers. Ashwani Datwalia, President of the Vocational Teachers’ Association, expressed gratitude to the government for the salary increment.

This move is expected to boost the morale of vocational teachers and improve the quality of vocational education in Himachal Pradesh.
