Heavy Rain Causes Damage Worth ₹11.25 Crore in Hamirpur in Two Days

Seasonal Losses Cross ₹71.26 Crore Since June 30

Hamirpur, September 1: Heavy rainfall across several parts of Hamirpur district over the past two days has caused estimated damage of more than ₹11.25 crore, taking the total estimated loss to government and private property during the ongoing monsoon season to over ₹71.26 crore since June 30.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Garg said that, according to reports received by the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) by Tuesday afternoon, losses of more than ₹11.25 crore had been reported during the past 24 hours.

One kutcha house was partially damaged and two cowsheds were destroyed during the period. The Public Works Department suffered estimated losses of around ₹10 crore, while various schemes of the Jal Shakti Department incurred damage of approximately ₹1.24 crore. Damage to electricity lines was estimated at around ₹1 lakh.

According to the latest assessment, the Public Works Department has suffered the highest losses during the monsoon season, estimated at ₹45.33 crore, followed by the Jal Shakti Department at ₹23.42 crore and the Electricity Board at ₹1.13 crore. The National Highway has suffered losses of approximately ₹50.22 lakh, while the Education Department has reported damage worth ₹17.70 lakh. Horticultural crops have also suffered estimated losses of ₹43.56 lakh.

The collapse of one panchayat house has resulted in an estimated loss of ₹3.50 lakh, while two kitchen sheds have been damaged, causing losses of around ₹65,000.

During the current monsoon season, one pucca house and six kutcha houses have been completely destroyed, with estimated losses of ₹14.45 lakh. Another 28 kutcha houses and five pucca houses have suffered partial damage, resulting in losses of approximately ₹15.07 lakh. Four retaining walls have collapsed, causing damage estimated at ₹2.40 lakh, while 32 cowsheds have been destroyed, with losses of around ₹8.85 lakh.

The ADC directed field officers and officials of all departments, including the Revenue Department, to submit damage assessment reports promptly so that timely assistance can be provided to affected people.
