Jairam Thakur Slams Govt on Robotic Surgery Delay, Himcare Benefits & HPU Teachers’ Protest

Mandi, August 7:
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has questioned the state government on the exclusion of Himcare beneficiaries from robotic surgery benefits. He demanded clarity on whether poor patients holding Himcare cards would get timely access to this advanced treatment, citing current delays in basic health services like MRI and CT scans.

Thakur also criticised the government for allegedly postponing critical cancer surgeries due to CM Sukhvinder Sukhu’s “dinner diplomacy” with Rahul Gandhi, calling it irresponsible. He claimed three patients with serious conditions like prostate cancer and kidney tumors were left waiting just to align the surgery with a political event.

He further attacked the Sukhvinder Sukhu-led government over salary delays at HPU and Nauni University, where teachers and staff have been protesting for a week. Thakur said the administration was failing under the guise of “system change” and demanded immediate disbursal of pending salaries and dues.
