Govt. considering shifting of HPTDC Office to Dharamshala: CM

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said here today that the State Government was exploring the possibilities of shifting Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) office from Shimla to Dharamshala. While reviewing the working of HPTDC, he said that Kangra district is being declared as the Tourism Capital of the State and this measure would go a long way in harnessing the tourism potential in the district. He said that due to the State Government’s initiatives and dedicated efforts of the staff of Corporation, the organization achieved its highest Rs. 105 crore turnover during the financial year 2023-24.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government was making every possible measure to make the HPTDC a profitable and viable organization. He assured that the state government would provide Rs. 250 crore for the renovation and restoration of 11 prime properties of the HPTDC and the work would be conducted in a phased manner.
Sh. Sukhu directed the officers to collaborate with leading online travel platforms such as MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip etc. for the booking of HPTDC hotel rooms. He also instructed to tie up with Swiggy and Zomato to expand the reach of HPTDC restaurants. Additionally, he said that the HPTDC should collaborate with Ayush Department for introducing Panchkarma wellness facilities in the five properties on pilot basis, emphasizing the need for superior quality services.
The Chief Minister also directed to explore the possibilities of running food trucks in places having heavy footfalls of the tourists to further enhance tourism offerings. He said that the HPTDC shall consider setting up of unique dining experiences like flying dining and glass restaurants in Manali to attract more tourists to the area.
Chairman HPTDC Rughbir Singh Bali, MLA Sudarshan Babloo, Principal Secretary Tourism Devesh Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Managing Director HPTDC Rajiv Kumar and other senior officers of the Corporation attended the meeting.
