Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh stated that the government is resolutely working to fulfill its employment guarantee, one of its ten key commitments. Addressing a one-day Rojgar Mela at Banuti in Shimla Rural constituency, he announced that recruitment for nearly 20,000 posts in government departments is underway.

He said that private sector employment is also being encouraged through job fairs across the state. Over 2000 vacancies from private companies have been reported to the Shimla Employment Office, with 45 companies from Baddi, Nalagarh, Paonta Sahib, and Una industrial zones participating in today’s event.

He emphasized transparent recruitment and urged companies to issue appointment letters on the spot, maintaining the 70:30 local employment ratio as per policy. In this fair, 1059 youth registered, out of which 673 cleared the first round of interviews and will be called for the second round.

Upcoming recruitments include 13,000 NTT teachers, 1000 TGTs, 2000 vocational teachers, 2000 posts in the health sector, and 3000 others, along with 8,000–10,000 Van Mitras statewide.
