Governor calls upon youth to contribute to building Viksit Bharat

Governor Kavinder Gupta has called upon the youth to play an active role in India’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat.
Addressing students from various schools of Shimla during an interaction organised under the IIMU Youth Connect Series at Delhi Public School, Shimla, the Governor said that Indian youth possess immense talent, skills and values and their potential needs to be channelized in a creative and constructive direction.
He said that youth are the strength of the nation and guiding and harnessing their potential in the right direction should be our collective endeavour.
Interacting with the students, the Governor spoke about the importance of education, patriotism, culture, opportunities and social responsibility. He emphasised that education should go beyond degrees and professional qualifications and should help develop character, confidence, discipline and a sense of responsibility towards society and the nation.
He said schools have an important role in shaping the personality and outlook of young people and urged students to remain focused on their goals and make constructive use of the opportunities available to them.
Referring to India’s history and cultural heritage, the Governor encouraged students to understand and take pride in the country’s civilizational traditions. He also stressed the importance of overcoming a ‘colonial mindset’ and strengthening national self-confidence while remaining committed to constitutional and cultural values.
Calling upon students to draw inspiration from freedom fighters, he highlighted the values of courage, dedication, sacrifice and service to the nation. He said patriotism should be reflected through responsible citizenship, integrity, hard work and service to society.
He said that the country gives us so much and we should also learn to give something back to the country.
