Government to honour those who extended their services during disaster

The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) is organizing its flagship mass awareness & capacity building campaign ‘Samarth-2023’ in celebration of the International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction from 1st October to 15th October 2023 aiming to promote disaster awareness and preparedness among the public.
Giving this information here today, the Director cum Special Secretary Revenue D.C. Rana stated that the key highlights of ‘Samarth-2023’ is the recognition and honoring of deserving individuals, institutions, and NGOs who have demonstrated exceptional and exemplary courage and worked day and night assisting the government in its efforts to carry out relief and rescue operations during the current monsoon season and torrential rains triggering flash floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh.
The awards will be given by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in a special ceremony to be held at the Gaiety Theatre.
He said that the dedication and efforts of such individuals, NGOs Institutions in disaster management was crucial in motivating and inspiring others to contribute to the safety and resilience of the communities.
All the Deputy Commissioners and Heads of the Departments has been asked to identify and nominate deserving individuals, institutions and NGO’s who have contributed their commendable services in the field of disaster management during the natural calamity that led to massive loss of both public and private property in the State.
