Una, January 23: The Androuli area along the scenic Gobind Sagar Lake in Una district’s Bangana tehsil is fast gaining popularity as a new adventure tourism and water sports destination in Himachal Pradesh. The initiative, being promoted under the guidance of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is aimed at creating a structured eco-adventure tourism model while generating local employment opportunities.
Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal said organised steps have been taken to boost adventure tourism in the lake belt. Under the Kutlehar Tourism Development Society, an operational agreement has been signed with Mayfield Adventures to manage water sports activities, giving a major push to tourism in the region.
The destination is attracting visitors with a mix of thrill and nature, offering activities such as boating, kayaking, jet ski, speed boating, ATV rides, hot air balloon rides and dragon rides. The district administration has also announced that more attractions will be added in the coming phase, including banana-bumper rides, shikara services, a 100+ seater cruise, zipline, paramotoring, floating jetty and paragliding, expanding Androuli into a full-fledged adventure tourism circuit.
DC Jatin Lal also personally experienced multiple activities, including a hot air balloon ride, and encouraged residents and tourists to visit the spot with family, calling it a safe and exciting leisure option now available locally.
Officials said the water sports contract was awarded through a competitive and transparent bidding process, in which Mayfield Adventures reportedly secured the agreement with the highest bid.
Further strengthening long-term development plans, the administration noted that nearly ₹10 crore investment is proposed through Asian Development Bank (ADB) support to develop Androuli as a planned adventure tourism hub. In addition, the proposed Mandli–Lathiani bridge and road project is expected to improve connectivity and significantly enhance tourist inflow in the Gobind Sagar belt.
