“₹6 lakh income, crores worth land deals and lawlessness expose governance failure: BJP”
Palampur:
BJP Himachal Pradesh President Dr. Rajeev Bindal on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, alleging a complete breakdown of law and order and widespread corruption in the state.
Addressing a gathering organised jointly by BJP rural and urban mandals in Palampur constituency, Dr. Bindal said recent developments—including the Chester Hill land controversy and the brutal murder of a 19-year-old girl—reflect what he termed as a “total collapse of governance” under the present regime.
Referring to media reports on the Chester Hill case, he questioned how an individual with an annual income of merely ₹6 lakh could acquire land worth crores, including nearly 275 bighas.
“This is not just a land transaction issue; it raises serious questions about corruption and misuse of the system. It appears that Himachal Pradesh is being put ‘on sale’ under Congress rule,” he said.
Dr. Bindal further alleged that the administrative machinery is deeply compromised, with senior अधिकारियों engaged in internal conflicts instead of governance.
“When officials are busy accusing each other, governance suffers and corruption thrives,” he remarked.
Expressing concern over the recent murder of a 19-year-old girl in Sarkaghat, he said the incident has shaken the conscience of the state.
“The fact that the accused was reportedly seen moving around for days without detection reflects the alarming state of law enforcement,” he added.
He accused the government of being insensitive and failing to ensure safety for citizens.
“Today, neither daughters are safe, nor property, nor the common citizen. This is the real face of the present government,” he said.
Dr. Bindal also alleged that the Congress government has failed to act decisively on serious issues and instead attempts to downplay incidents.
“What was promised as ‘system change’ has now turned into ‘system collapse’,” he said.
He further claimed that various mafias—including drug, mining, land and transfer mafias—are flourishing in the state due to weak governance.
“This government appears to be running under the influence of vested interests rather than in the interest of the people,” he alleged.
Earlier, Dr. Bindal attended the programme as Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts of BJP leaders and workers, including senior spokesperson Trilok Kapoor and his team, for organising the event. Several party functionaries, including district president Ragini Rukwal, district general secretaries Abhimanyu Bhatt and Rajesh Ranu, and other office bearers were present.
Concluding his address, Dr. Bindal said that people of Himachal Pradesh are closely observing the situation and will give a befitting reply at the appropriate time.
“The present government has lost its moral right to continue in office,” he asserted.
