Fraud of Nearly Two Lakh Rupees Reported in Punjab National Bank Branch in Una
1 min readUna, March 31: An active employee of Punjab National Bank (PNB) located on the Old Hoshiarpur Road fell victim to an online scam, resulting in a loss of approximately two lakh twenty-six thousand rupees. The incident has prompted the bank employee to lodge a formal complaint with the police, leading to an ongoing investigation into the matter.
According to the complaint filed by the bank employee, Akshay Kumar, a resident of Ambhera Dheeraj, Bangana, on March 29, he received a suspicious link on his mobile phone. Upon clicking the link, he began receiving OTPs (One-Time Passwords) on his phone unexpectedly. Kumar became alarmed and immediately checked his bank accounts, only to discover that a total of 2,26,000 rupees had been debited from three separate accounts.
Expressing concern over the fraudulent activity, Kumar has also reported the incident to the bank’s cyber cell. Meanwhile, Rakesh Singh, the Superintendent of Police in Una, confirmed that the police have initiated an investigation into the matter based on Kumar’s complaint. Necessary actions are being taken to address the issue and apprehend the unidentified culprit responsible for the fraudulent transactions.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with online transactions and highlights the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to prevent financial losses. The police are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrator involved in the fraudulent scheme.
