Forestry College declared overall winner

Inter College Sports and Games meet concludes at Nauni

The College of Forestry was adjudged as the overall winner of the Inter College Sports and Games Meet organized at the Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The four-day event saw the participation of 415 participants from the four Colleges of the University. Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice-Chancellor was the Chief Guest of the closing programme.

Dr Rajesh Bhalla, Student Welfare Officer in his welcome address informed that 3 indoor and 3 outdoor events were organised which included 7 track and 6 field events. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Chandel congratulated all the participants for their impressive display of sportsmanship and for providing thrill through the exciting matches and competitions in all events. He said that it was heartening to see the students excelling in sports along with studies which is in sync with the aim of the university which also seeks to develop the overall personality of all the students. The Men’s Kabaddi finals were held on the occasion in which the College of Horticulture defeated the College of Forestry by 42-26.

In other results, the College of Horticulture was declared the winner of the Volleyball men’s and women’s events with the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri( COH&F) being the runners-up in both categories. In men’s Basketball, Forestry was the winner and Horticulture was the runners-up. While in the women’s category, Horticulture defeated Forestry to become the winner of basketball. In Women’s Kabaddi, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Thunag were runners up while the team from Horticulture bagged the winners trophy. In men’s football, Horticulture defeated Forestry to bag the winners trophy while Forestry defeated Thunag to become winners in the women’s category. In Badminton, Horticulture was the winner while Thunag was the runner up in the men’s event. In the women’s category, the trophy went to Horticulture with Forestry being the runners-up. In Table tennis, Horticulture defeated Neri to bag the winners trophy in the men’s event while Forestry defeated Horticulture to win the women’s table tennis trophy.

The Puran Anand Adlakha award for best sportsperson was bagged by Monu Patyal and Kamini from the College of Forestry. Mridul Thakur from the College of Forestry bagged the best athlete award while Sandhya from the College of Horticulture was adjudged best female athlete.
