Explosion in Shimla Prompts Reinvestigation by CID after NSG Findings

Following the revelation of the NSG report, the CID will now conduct a fresh investigation into the explosion that occurred in Shimla on July 18. The NSG team, dispatched from Delhi, reported that the blast in Malroad, Shimla, was not due to a gas leak but resulted from explosive substances.
The incident, which occurred at 7:12 PM near the Police Control Room in Himachali Rasoi, claimed the lives of two individuals and left 12 others injured. Additionally, 7 to 8 shops suffered significant damage, causing widespread panic in the city.
After the initial report was filed with Shimla Police, an SIT was formed. However, in light of the NSG findings, the CID will now reexamine the case, focusing on identifying the specific explosive material involved in the incident.
On July 23, six days after the explosion, the NSG conducted a thorough investigation from 10 AM to 5 PM, sealing off the affected area. Approximately 20 commandos were involved in the operation. The final report clarified that the blast was not a result of a routine gas leak but rather involved explosive materials.
With the case now handed over to the State CID, further investigations will delve into the nature of the explosive substance used. The findings are crucial for understanding the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensuring appropriate legal actions are taken.
