Election Commission Monitors Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls for 2024
2 min readOn November 6, 2023, a meeting was held with the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Manish Garg, to oversee the activities related to the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls as per the directions of the Election Commission of India. The revision is set to take place from October 27, 2023, to December 9, 2023, with the participation of District Election Officers from Kangra, Shimla, and Mandi (Electoral Roll Observers).
During this specific revision for 2024, Electoral Roll Observers will monitor various aspects of the revision process, including the quality of claims and objections received, gender ratio in voter lists, population ratio, and age-wise registration discrepancies. They will ensure that the activities conducted by the District Election Officers are in accordance with the Election Commission’s guidelines and provide guidance to resolve any discrepancies.
In the course of this revision period, observers will conduct three rounds of visits and hold meetings with Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and representatives of political parties. After each round, Electoral Roll Observers will report to the Chief Electoral Officer.
It was also informed that in the context of the Special Summary Revision 2024, if any political party or the general public wishes to present any matter, they can contact the Electoral Roll Observer in their respective district:

– Mandi District: Electoral Roll Observer, Mandi Mandal at 94180-88701
In this regard, the Chief Electoral Officer encouraged all eligible citizens to ensure their inclusion in the voter lists before December 9, 2023, to actively participate in strengthening the democracy of the nation.
