Shimla: St. Edwards School Shimla and its alumni is working towards the go green goal and as part of this drive, cleanliness and tree planting programs were organized at the school and other locations.
President of the Edwards School Association, Rajiv Sood on Sunday said that school organized a car rally, which was flagged off by the school’s Principal, Anil Squirea on Sunday. The rally proceeded from the school to the Naldehra Golf Club, where a gold competition was also held.
The environment is becoming polluted, and controlling pollution will be the biggest challenge for future generations. To combat this challenge, we all must work towards the goal of Go Green and if we start working today, the future will improve, said Sood in a statement issued here.
About 73 vehicles participated in the car rally, and 41 participants participated in the Gold Competition.
Underlining that implementing circular economy principles are crucial for retrieving materials from waste and reducing the burden on resources, Sood urged effective enforcement of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations for plastic packaging, e-waste, battery waste, discarded tires, used oil, end-of-life vehicles, construction and demolition waste, and non-ferrous metal scrap to facilitate EPR certification for producers and recyclers.
Rajiv Sood noted that participants from across the country and the world have come to Shimla to celebrate Edwards School’s 100th anniversary. They shared their experiences with the school students, boosting their morale.
He praised the extraordinary spirit, determination, and record-breaking performance of the World Para Athletics participant, who has brought pride to the nation and should be an inspiration to all.
India achieved its best performance in the history of the World Para Athletics Championships, finishing 10th overall with a record 22 medals – 6 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze.
These are not just para-athletes, but India’s power athletes. The pride you have brought to the country by winning medals, and the inspiring message you have sent, especially to those with disabilities, is commendable. The courage you have displayed is remarkable.
