Education Minister participates in state-level Under-19 cultural competition in Nerwa

Shimla, November 20 – Education Minister Rohit Thakur today participated as the chief guest in the closing ceremony of the state-level cultural competition for Under-19 students (boys and girls) held at Government Senior Secondary School, Nerwa, in the Chaupal constituency. Participants from 12 districts took part in this competition.

In his address, he mentioned that the current state government is committed to strengthening the foundational framework of education in rural and remote areas. Efforts will be made to provide better educational facilities to marginalized groups at their doorstep. He informed that Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has implemented the Chief Minister’s Student Incentive Scheme for the welfare of students from disadvantaged groups. Under this scheme, students from economically weaker sections will have access to a one percent interest loan for higher education, promoting self-reliance.

The Education Minister also emphasized the importance of cultural activities in overall personality development and encouraged teachers and parents to motivate children towards cultural activities. He announced that the state government will provide incentives to winners of cultural competitions, similar to those for sports, to attract the younger generation towards preserving and promoting local culture.

Rohit Thakur stated that 6,000 new teachers will be recruited to fill vacant positions in rural and remote areas. He assured swift filling of vacant teacher positions in the Chaupal constituency. He also highlighted that the current government is making announcements with a budget, unlike the previous BJP government.

He assured strengthening the infrastructure of the Government Senior Secondary School in Nerwa, including improving the library and furniture. Additionally, the proposal for constructing additional buildings in the school will be fulfilled.

Prior to this, the state party secretary Rajneesh Kimta welcomed the chief guest and briefed him about the issues in the region. He mentioned that 1,100 students participated in this competition.

Results of the competition include:
– In the Under-19 (students) state-level cultural solo singing competition, Government Senior Secondary School, Lalpani, Shimla secured the first position, and Government Senior Secondary School, Anni, Kullu, secured the second position.
– In the classical music competition, DCPS Paunta Sahib, Sirmaur, secured the first position, and Government Senior Secondary School, Dhundan, Solan, secured the second position.
– In the group song competition, Government Senior Secondary School, Dhundan, Solan, secured the first position, and GNPS Paunta Sahib, Sirmaur, secured the second position.
– In the one-act play competition, Government Senior Secondary School (Students) Mandi, Mandi, secured the first position, and Government Senior Secondary School, Lalpani, Shimla, secured the second position.
– In the Sanskrit shloka recitation competition, Government Senior Secondary School, Chiog, Shimla, secured the first position, and Government Senior Secondary School, Rakota, Mandi, secured the second position.
– In the Sanskrit geetika competition, Himalayan Public School, Nerwa, Shimla, secured the first position, and Government Senior Secondary School, Rakota, Mandi, secured the second position.
– In the declaration competition, Government Senior Secondary School, Kanjar, Sirmaur, secured the first position, and Government Senior Secondary School, Kalol, Bilaspur, secured the second position.
– In the group instrumental competition, Him Academy Vikasnagar, Hamirpur, secured the first position, and Government Senior Secondary School, Chhota Shimla, Shimla, secured the second position.
– In the folk dance competition, Government Senior Secondary School, Nahol, Shimla, secured the first position, and Government Senior Secondary School, Anni, Kullu, secured the second position.

On this occasion, BDC President Chandra Mohan Thakur, Senior Congress leader Yashpal Tanayak, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Chaupal) Narayan Chauhan, DSP Chaupal Raj Kumar, Additional Advocate General I. N. Mehta, school principal Hari Ram Sharma, officials, and staff were present.

Education Minister’s tour on November 21
Education Minister Rohit Thakur will be on a tour to the Madhan area of Thiyog sub-division on November 21, 2023. During this tour, he will lay the foundation stone for the new buildings of Government Senior Secondary School, Dharampur, Government Central Primary School, Dharampur, and Government Primary School, Bhogara, all in the Madhan area. Afterward, he will preside over the annual award distribution ceremony at Government Senior Secondary School, Dharampur. He will also participate in the cultural programs organized by three women’s groups of Dharampur Gram Panchayat. Later, he will meet the public and party workers in Dharampur Gram Panchayat.
