Shimla, May 23, 2025: Education Minister Rohit Thakur inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹2.5 crore in Barthata Panchayat, Jubbal. He dedicated a 2 km long Kelvi-Balai link road built at a cost of ₹55 lakh and laid the foundation for a ₹2.07 crore bridge on Sojla-Kelvi-Gadavg road.
During his visit, he also inspected the ongoing construction of a ₹1.70 crore Primary Health Centre at Bataadgalu and flagged off a bus service on the newly constructed road.
Addressing a public gathering in Balai, the minister expressed personal joy as Balai, a remote area, has now been fully connected by road with Barthata for the first time. He noted that the new road will benefit nearby areas including Katasu Nandpur, Anti, Chhajpur, and border villages of Uttarakhand like Kuddu.
Highlighting the region’s apple economy, he said the new road shortens the distance between Balai and Barthata by 35 km, aiding farmers in transporting produce to markets efficiently.
