Education Minister Concludes Under-19 Girls Sports Event at Duttnagar School
1 min readShimla, 16 September – Education Minister Rohit Thakur graced the closing ceremony of the 68th district-level Under-19 girls’ sports competition held at Government Senior Secondary School, Duttnagar, from 13 to 16 September. Speaking at the event, Thakur emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education and announced the upcoming recruitment of around 6200 NTT teachers. He also thanked the Chief Minister and cabinet for halting mid-session teacher transfers to avoid disruptions in the academic session.
Thakur approved the construction of an examination center at Duttnagar School, with 20% of the ₹38 lakh estimated cost to be disbursed this fiscal year. Additionally, he sanctioned the creation of an extra English teacher post for the school, reaffirming the government’s pledge to expand English-medium education across the state.
In appreciation of the cultural performances by the students, Thakur announced a ₹15,000 grant to promote such activities.
Nand Lal Expresses Gratitude for Science Block Funding
Local MLA and Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Finance Commission, Nand Lal, thanked the Education Minister for attending the event and for allocating ₹51 lakh for the construction of the school’s ₹2.5 crore Science Block. He urged the younger generation to stay away from drugs.
Theog Zone Emerges as Overall Champion
The four-day event saw participation from 716 students across 15 zones. Theog Zone claimed the overall championship, with notable winners in various sports, including Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Yoga, Chess, and March Past. The chief guest presented trophies to all winners and runners-up, extending best wishes for their future endeavors.
