Economic Census 2025-26 to Begin in April – Deputy Commissioner

Shimla Feb 14: A special meeting regarding the Economic Census 2025-26 was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap in Shimla district. The census work will begin in April 2025 and will be the 8th report of the economic census.

Kashyap stated that according to the guidelines issued by the State-Level Committee, the census will include data on all domestic enterprises and establishments. The gathered data will be used for planning social-economic development at both state and district levels.

The census will utilize an IT-based digital platform for data collection, verification, report generation, and dissemination. Enumerator and supervisor deployment will be completed by April-end, with Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers serving as enumerators, while Patwaris, Panchayat Secretaries, and Panchayat Assistants will serve as supervisors.

The data will be collected using a mobile app, and four master trainers at the district level and two at the block level will be assigned. All related formalities will be completed by the respective departments.
