2 min read

Shimla: Dr. Rajeev Bindal, the BJP state president, announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is launching a nationwide campaign called “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in the Name of Mother) following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to action. This campaign, aimed at improving the environment and securing the future of upcoming generations, will run in Himachal Pradesh from August 1 to August 15.

Dr. Bindal stated that the BJP has set a goal to plant 50 saplings at each booth across the state. With this initiative, a target of planting 400,000 trees at 8,000 locations has been set. A team, led by state general secretary Trilok Kapoor, has been formed to continuously review the progress of this campaign. He urged all residents of the state to actively participate in this initiative.

Dr. Bindal also addressed the significance of August 14, 1947, the day of India’s partition. He highlighted that the partition resulted in the division of Punjab and Bengal on religious grounds, leading to the formation of Pakistan. The acceptance of Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s demand for the partition based on religion by the leaders of that time caused millions to be displaced and led to mass killings, abductions, and the exploitation of thousands of women. To remind the country of this tragic day, the BJP will observe August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. A team led by state general secretary Bihari Lal Sharma will oversee the organization of this commemoration.

Dr. Bindal mentioned that for several years, the BJP has been celebrating August 15, Independence Day, with the “Har Ghar Tiranga” (Flag in Every Home) campaign. Continuing this tradition, on August 15, 2024, Himachal Pradesh BJP will conduct the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in every division. A team led by state general secretary Bihari Lal Sharma has been formed to manage this campaign across all four parliamentary constituencies.

Dr. Bindal emphasized that along with political endeavors, the BJP continually engages in national policies and social upliftment activities. In this vein, they recently celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas and will organize events during Raksha Bandhan to promote social harmony.
