Shimla Dec 25

A significant number of doctors from Himachal Pradesh’s two major medical colleges—IGMC Shimla and Tanda Medical College—are set to go on winter vacation, leaving patients in distress. At IGMC Shimla, 151 doctors from 24 departments will be on leave from December 26 for 38 days, followed by another batch starting January 31. Similarly, 107 doctors from Tanda Medical College, including specialists from key departments like cardiology and gynecology, will also be on leave until February.

These vacations are expected to create major challenges for patient care, with only 50% of the workforce available at any given time. IGMC Shimla, which handles over 3,000 patients daily, and Tanda Medical College, catering to multiple districts, are likely to experience long delays and reduced availability of specialist consultations.
