District-Level Cleanliness Drive Held at Khajjiar

Chamba, October 1: A district-level public cleanliness drive was organised at the famous tourist destination of Khajjiar on Wednesday under the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign-2026.

The campaign was conducted in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Chamba Mukesh Repaswal, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra was also present. Officials from the district administration and various departments, representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions, students, volunteers and local residents participated actively in the drive.

As part of the campaign, extensive cleanliness and waste collection activities were carried out at Khajjiar and the surrounding forest areas. Participants collected plastic and other waste scattered across the area and disposed of it at designated locations.

Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal emphasised the importance of public participation and collective responsibility in maintaining cleanliness. He urged local residents, tourists and students to ensure proper waste disposal and contribute towards preserving Khajjiar’s natural beauty and environment.

He also interacted with students of Government Senior Secondary School, Khajjiar, and encouraged them to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and spread the message of cleanliness among their families and communities.

Messages such as “Participation in Cleanliness, Clean India–Developed India” and “One Hour, Together, One Day” were used to raise awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection.

Students of Government Senior Secondary School Khajjiar, members of local self-help groups, residents of Gram Panchayat Khajjiar, MY Bharat volunteers, Anganwadi workers of the ICDS Department and the Poshan Abhiyan team also participated in the campaign.

The district administration reiterated its commitment to conducting cleanliness and awareness activities across Chamba under the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign-2026, with special emphasis on tourist destinations, public places and environmentally sensitive areas.
