DAV MAS Students’ Educational Excursion to JUIT

In a bid to broaden their horizons and delve into the realms of cutting-edge technology, twenty-five students from the Medical and Non-Medical streams of DAV Model Senior Secondary School, Totu, Shimla embarked on an educational excursion to Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) in Waknaghat on April 29, 2024.
Led by Dr. Hemant Sood and Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh from the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, the students were treated to a comprehensive tour of JUIT’s state-of-the-art facilities. The day kicked off with a captivating presentation, showcasing the salient features and facilities of the campus through an informative video.
Dr. Hemant Sood, with his expertise in biotechnology, shed light on the future prospects in the field, discussing potential avenues and exciting opportunities for the students. He also highlighted the remarkable achievements of JUIT, including the prestigious NAAC A+ grade accreditation, which left the students and faculty members awe-inspired.
As the tour progressed, the students were guided through various laboratories, each specializing in different fields such as Genomics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Plant and Animal Tissue Culture, and Bioinformatics. Prof. Tirath Raj Singh elucidated on the utilization of computational tools in analyzing biological data, igniting curiosity among the students.
The tour extended to the Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, and Communication departments, where students gained insights into ongoing programs and witnessed groundbreaking projects like drones and robotics in action.
Dr. Amardeep from the Civil Engineering Department showcased the advanced facilities including the Biogas plant, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), and Rainwater Harvesting system, providing a holistic view of sustainable engineering practices.
The enriching experience concluded with a delightful high tea session, where Dr. Hemant Sood expressed gratitude to Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Prof. Ashish Kumar, Ms. Jeevan Jyoti (Principal, DAV), Shilpa Thakur, Khemraj Sharma (faculty members of DAV, Totu, Shimla), and the entire JUIT community for their unwavering support and hospitality.
The educational tour not only exposed the students to the latest advancements in technology but also inspired them to pursue their academic and professional aspirations with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.
