Shimla, June 30 – The Baluganj Welfare Society organized the Dangal Mela on Sunday, with state Minister of Rural Development Vikramaditya Singh attending as the chief guest.

Singh emphasized that such festivals are a hallmark of Himachali culture, tracing back continuously since 1969 in Baluganj. Renowned wrestlers from across the country have participated in these events, fostering not just sports but also cultural exchange.

Addressing local concerns, Singh highlighted the ongoing water supply issues in Shimla. He recalled the 1200 crore rupee project initiated during former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s tenure, which includes a completed storage tank in Peterhof. This project aims to alleviate the water shortage and ensure a sustainable supply of potable water to residents.

Furthermore, Singh pledged 500,000 rupees for the construction of stairs in the Baluganj ward and for the installation of high mast lights at the sports grounds. He also committed to upgrading the local roads within the ward.

The organizing committee of the Dangal Mela was promised 31,000 rupees to support their efforts in organizing the event. Singh assured prompt resolution of land-related issues affecting the grounds and announced plans for installing high mast lights to enable night-time sports activities.

Rajiv Thakur, President of the Baluganj Welfare Society, extended gratitude to the chief guest and other dignitaries for their presence and support.
