Nahan, July 22, 2025 — The deadline for crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in Sirmaur district has been extended to July 31, 2025. According to Deputy Director of Agriculture, Rajkumar, farmers can insure maize and paddy crops to safeguard against natural disasters such as drought, floods, landslides, fire, and post-harvest losses.
The insured amount for both crops is ₹60,000 per hectare, with farmers paying only 2% of the premium. The remaining cost will be borne by the central and state governments. The Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AIC) has been designated to handle the insurance. Farmers may contact their nearest agriculture office or AIC representatives for assistance.
