Corruption Who’s Fault Is It Anyway?

Shimla, Feb 18 Ritanjali Hastir

The so-called smart city is struggling with traffic issues and in recent times the problem has multiplied. Several reasons can be blamed for it however, one of the major issues that one can blame is the absence of parking spaces in almost all the wards of Shimla.

Time and again Shimla Municipal Corporation advertise tenders but recently last month the number of parking complexes was auctioned but unfortunately, not many people came forward to participate in it.

Most of parking owners/contractors are charging rates as per their whims and fancy and unfortunately, people are also not coming forward to complain about the issue. Most domestic parking in the city is charging commercial rates for which one of the Shimla residents says, “It is ok even if one has to pay a bit extra as such it is hard to find any place”.

For providing parking certificate for new vehicles amount of nearly RS. 35,000 too has been demanded and such matters go unreported.

Shimla MC, Commissioner, Ashish appealed to the public that they should come forward if such malpractice is being done as it is difficult for them to keep a close check on every contractor. SMC does not support any kind of corruption, his doors are always open for assisting people.

The interrogating question for all is who is responsible for corruption or does just blaming the system alone serve the purpose? Is the selfish nature serving as a nutrient for corruption? As long as man keeps on proposing God will always have the option to dispose of.
