Congress Giving False Guarantees Despite Failing Its Own Promises: Jai Ram Thakur

Palampur, May 10: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a sharp attack on the Congress government while addressing a major election rally in support of BJP candidates for the Palampur Municipal Corporation elections.
Jai Ram Thakur said that a party which had failed to fulfil its own guarantees was once again trying to mislead people through false promises ahead of the elections. Targeting Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, he alleged that the state government was focusing on unnecessary controversies instead of development and governance.
Expressing concern over law and order, the BJP leader referred to recent crime incidents in Palampur and Sarkaghat, claiming that the government had lost administrative control in the state.
He also criticised the Congress government over the proposed use of land belonging to for tourism-related projects, alleging that the move was against the interests of the youth and future generations. Referring to Palampur’s historical association with the Ram Temple resolution, he claimed that the Congress government had initiated a “Himachal on Sale” policy from the same sacred land, which BJP later challenged up to the Supreme Court.
Jai Ram Thakur further accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil promises regarding exclusion of rural areas from Municipal Corporation limits and relief from taxation. He assured that if BJP returns to power, public sentiments would be respected and development of urban infrastructure would be prioritised.
He also alleged irregularities in the Rs 127 crore sewerage project approved by the Centre for Palampur and blamed the Congress leadership for lack of parking facilities, stray cattle issues and stalled development works in the town.
Senior BJP leaders including Shrikant Sharma, Rajeev Bhardwaj, Vipin Parmar and Trilok Kapoor were also present during the rally.
